POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP (POSTDOCTORAL) IN BIODIVERSITY, ECOSYSTEMIC FUNCTIONS AND SUSTAINABILITY

SUMMARY

Description

Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship position, granted by the CAPES PrInt Program (http://www.propg.ufscar.br/pt-br/ufscar-print/) (Program for Institutional Internationalization of the Higher Education Institutions and Research Institutions in Brazil). The candidates can be researchers or professors, Brazilian or foreign, residing in Brazil or abroad who have relevant academic-scientific experience abroad (as a full PhD, PhD sandwich or postdoctoral for at least twelve months), to carry out research activities. Applicants must hold a PhD degree and they must be fluent in English. Candidates must have experience abroad in one or more of the following strategic countries: Argentina; Australia; Austria; Belgium; Canada; Chile; China; Colombia; Cuba; Czech Republic; Denmark; Finland; France; Germany; India; Ireland; Italy; Japan; Mexico; Netherlands; New Zealand; Norway; Portugal; Russia; South Africa; South Korea; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland; United Kingdom (UK); United States (USA); Uruguay

Objectives

 Attraction of researchers or professors, Brazilian or foreign, residing in Brazil or abroad, with relevant academic- scientific experience abroad.

Desirable Skills

The fellowship will be awarded one to up two outstanding postdoctoral scholars who have demonstrated the ability to conduct independent and high-quality scientific research. The selected applicants are expected to lead one or more research projects and participate in teaching activities that can foster internationalization. The proposal should be aligned with the goals of the Theme 5: Biodiversity, Ecosystemic Functions and Sustainability​, available at (https://www.propg.ufscar.br/pt-br/ufscar-print/priority-themes/biodiversity-ecosystems-functions-and-sustainability).

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted between December 16^th – February 16^th, 2023 – 17:00h (UTC -3). Applications will be made exclusively at the link http://portalerpos.com.br/propg-ufscar/index.php/cautenticacao/formLogin, with the documentation included. Only documents written in English will be accepted.

The following documents must be included in the online application form:

Motivation letter, that should also mention the period in which the applicant wishes to start his/her activities (must indicate one of the following months: July/2023, August/2023, September/2023, October/2023, or November/2023).

Two reference letters.

Curriculum vitae with published articles that can show the candidate abilities to lead the project.

Ph.D. degree certificate/ diploma or an equivalent document from the graduate program that includes the date of the Doctoral Dissertation defense.

Document proving the internship period of one year abroad (for Brazilian candidate).

ORCID with links to publications.

Research Proposal (in English language), with no more than 15 pages.

Partnership declaration issued by host researcher(s) from UFSCar from one of the participating Graduate Program of this call.

Passport and CPF (for brazilian citizens)

FELLOWSHIP INFORMATION:

Duration: 12 (twelve) months

Fellowship stipend: R$ 4.100,00 per month.

Travel funds: (round trip, amount depends on the Region indicated in the table below) for foreign residents only.

Accommodation assistance: single installment of R$ 2.200,00 for foreign residents only.

Health insurance: R$ 400,00 ( single payment) for foreign residents only.

SELECTION

The selection will consider the candidate competence as a researcher in his/her area of expertise, based on the candidate curriculum, the research proposal, the motivation letter and the reference letters.

The selection process may include a personal interview in English through video conference.

Candidates not classified will remain in a waitlist and may be awarded in case of fellowship availability.

The waitlist deadline will be June 19, 2023;

Candidates on the waitlist will be consulted for interest and/or for update documents, in cases of need to term changes;

The waitlist will be a separate document from the Final Result;

If there is availability of fellowships exceed the number of candidates on the waitlist, a supplementary call will be published.
